March 18, 2020 - COVID-19 Impact on Program

Yesterday Tamarack’s management team made the very difficult decision to suspend services effective Friday March 20th for the next 3 weeks at a minimum.

In the interests of managing risk, keeping staff and clients safe and in the light of emerging information regarding social distancing, this is the most appropriate decision to take for our organization.

Although we don’t yet know when we will be operating again with clients, all current clients have been assured that when we do re-open, they will be able to resume their treatment program exactly where they left off and we will accommodate individual requirements for extra time as needed by each client.

In addition all current clients have been provided with extra resources to take off site to support them in their recovery. They will be contacted daily by their counsellor by phone for check-ins and support and an online private support group for this groups of clients and the staff has been established to maintain connection, offer encouragement and share resources during this time.

We will also be supporting all our graduates and have let them know how to keep in touch with staff during this time in order to make sure they are feeling supported in their recovery and can reach out whenever they need.

The Tamarack Management team will continue working full-time during this period and will be updating all staff, clients and our friends on social media over the coming weeks. Tamarack is dedicated to supporting and maintaining the well-being of our staff and as such, all employees will be provided their full pay during this three week period. As more information comes to light regarding recommended shut-down periods, we will continue looking at the best ways to support our team, ensuring that no staff member experiences financial hardship during any extended shut-down period.

We are truly sorry to have to enact the decision to temporarily suspend in-house treatment but for now at least this seems the safest way forward. Please do not hesitate to be in touch should you have any questions. Keep up to date with news and resources by following us on Facebook or checking back here often.
